Gabriel’s Crossing to Humbolt, 1994. Synthetic polymer on linen, 7 ½ x 10 ¼ feet (228.6cm x 312.4cm). Beginning with a geography lesson about how Saskatchewan is taxed by soil sample, Mackenzie portrays a complex set of historical and geographical possibilities. The painting appears in Art BC, Master Works from British Columbia by Ian Thom.
